Unfortunately, I don’t get to post as much as I like. There’s a lot being said about both candidates recently, especially about economic news (oil drilling, social security, energy, etc) that I would like to chime in on.
For the moment, however, I’ll just stick with what this blog is about: a McCain-Ridge ticket. And if we get this ticket, fantastic. I’ll focus on the general election. If not, so be it.
Here is a transcript of Ridge talking to Fox about the VP slot. He handles the abortion question quite well. Think about this for a second: If this is the only issue preventing Ridge from getting the VP slot, it’s no issue at all. I don’t believe the politics are such that any single issue can keep a candidate off the ticket. There’s no litmus test. It wasn’t an issue for Bush senior. And all Ridge has to be able to do is demonstrate that he will support the policies of his president. Given his background and experience, Ridge’s portfolio isn’t likely going to have anything to do with abortion.
Here’s a funny post about the three people McCain would like to have as his running mate.
And here is the apparent source for that post. McCain really wants Ridge but can’t have him.
Again, I disagree. The conservative wing is portrayed as irrational on this issue, but I think they can be pesuaded given ample consultation before hand.
